The ancient
town of Ago-Iwoye was agog on Saturday, when Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba
honoured the Chairman of Ago-Iwoye Central Development Council, ACDC, Princess
Adenike Tolofari with the Chieftaincy title of Iya Ewe of Igan, Ago-Iwoye,
while Chief Kunle Sikiru bagged the Chieftaincy title of Akogun of Igan,
Ago-Iwoye and Chief (Mrs) Helen Adebisi Banjo became the Iyalode of Igan,
Ago-Iwoye.

Speaking at
the ceremony, which was held at the Ebumawe’s palace, Oba Adenugba commended the Mefu of Igan,
Ago-Iwoye, Otunba Samson Rufai, for considering the new chiefs worthy of the chieftaincy titles, in appreciation of their numerous contributions to the
development of Igan, Ago-Iwoye.

Oba Adenugba,
while conferring the chieftaincy titles on the new chiefs, prayed for them and
further charged them to continue to live up to expectations, and not relent in
continuing the good works which earned them the chieftaincy titles. He urged
other sons and daughters of Igan, Ago-Iwoye to emulate the good deed of the new
chiefs, while appealing for sustenance of the peaceful co-existence among the
indigenes and residents of the town.

In his
remark, Otunba Samson Rufai congratulated the new chiefs, and called on them to
always be good ambassadors of Igan, Ago-Iwoye. He also advised them to
continuously explore ways of bringing development to Igan and Ago-Iwoye at
large.

The occasion
had in attendance prominent dignitaries including; Chief (Mrs) Bola Obasanjo,
Prof. Alausa, Prof. S. Ade Alli, Alhaji Mosuro, Otunba Koyejo Adekoya, Mrs
Ayisat Elesin, Mrs. Payne, members of Executive Council of ACDC.
