The second republic president, Alhaji Shehu Shagari is dead.
Former President Shagari died today at the National Hospital, Abuja.
Alhaji Shagari was elected president from 1979 to 1983.
He won a reelection for second term before his tenure was terminated on 31st December, 1983, in a military coup that led to the emergence of Major General Muhammadu Buhari as the Head of State.
