At last, Senator Buruji Kashamu has been confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State, in the final list released.

The emergence of Kashamu has therefore laid to rest, the controversy over who is the candidate of PDP in Ogun State between Ladi Adebutu and Buruji Kashamu.
In the final list released by INEC, Kashamu's name was confirmed as the candidate to contest the 2019 governorship election on the platform of PDP.
It will be recalled that PDP in Ogun State has been embroiled in a factional battle, leading to the conduct of parallel primary elections that produced two candidates.
Speaking after the release of INEC's final list, Senator Kashamu urged members of the PDP in Ogun State to unite and ensure that PDP wins the gubernatorial election.
He also commended the Judiciary for upholding justice, while thanking INEC for respecting the judgement of the court.
