Kwara police boss talks tough

The new Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, has declared that criminals have no place in the state and committed to the protection of lives and property.

Kayode Egbetokun
Egbetokun at a maiden press briefing in Ilorin on Sunday said: “Criminals will not have a place in the state.

Kwara will be too hot for them.

“They have two choices, either they change their ways of life or relocate to other states,” he declared.

Egbetokun appealed to the people to always support the Police Command, adding that he would need the support of the people to succeed in his assignment.

“For the police to succeed, the support of the people is very important. The command cannot succeed without the people’s support,” he added.

The CP said he was in Kwara to discharge his duty with vigour, honour and integrity.

He noted that he was satisfied with the arrangement he met on ground as regard preparation of the police for the coming elections.

Egbetokun promised to provide level playing ground for all the political parties in the state.

“I am committed to the rule of law and principle of fairness and justice,” the CP added.

He, however, advised journalists in the state against spreading falsehood and distorting fact.

According to him, spreading falsehood and distorting fact is dangerous and not good for the country.

Egbetokun advised journalists to always cross check their facts before publication, adding that he would always be available to them.
