Mustapha wins Ogun East senatorial election

Alhaji Lekan Mustapha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the Ogun East senatorial election held on Saturday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Prof Chris Onwuka, announced that Alhaji Mustapha polled 85,761 votes to defeat Mr. Ayoola Sosanwo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled83,528 votes.

It will be recalled that the election was earlier declared inconclusive due to over voting in polling unit 006 of Ajebandele Ward.

Prof. Onwuka stated that the result of unit 006 was later cancelled, while the declared result was based on the total scores of the remaining 9 units of Ajebandele ward.
