Amosu emerges new Ogun NUJ chairman

Comrade Soji Amosu of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has emerged as the new Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Comrade Amosu was declared winner in a keenly contested election on Friday, at the Iwe Iroyin secretariat of NUJ, Abeokuta, having scored 164 votes to defeat his main challenger, Mrs Remi Olugbenro of the Paramount FM, Abeokuta, who scored 141 votes. Comrade Biodun Ogundipe of OGBC came third with 116 votes.

In the Vice Chairmanship election, Comrade Kunle Olayeni, scored 269 votes to defeat Comrade Daud Olatunde Olanrewaju who scored 128 votes, while Comrade Kunle Ewuoso emerged General Secretary, having polled 224 votes to defeat Comrade Goke who polled 183 votes.

Comrade Biodun Taiwo was elected as the Assistant General Secretary with 198 votes, while his opponent, Mrs. Bisi Alarape scored 188 votes.

The newly elected officers were immediately sworn in to pilot the affairs of the council for three years.

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman thanked members of the council for their confidence in him, which led to his victory at the election. He promised to run an all inclusive administration that will restore the lost glory of the council.

Comrade Amosu appealed to his co-contestants to join hands with him to take the council to an enviable height.
