Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha, were on Friday suspended by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The NWC also recommended the expulsion of the duo from APC to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party for ratification.
The suspension was sequel to the allegations of “anti-party activities” which were levelled against the governors.
Amosun and Okorocha, who were senators-elect on the platform of APC on Saturday were seen to be backing different candidates for the March 9 governorship election.
Governor Amosun has thrown his weight behind the candidate of Allied People's Movement (APM) in Ogun State, Hon. Abdul-Kabir Adekunle Akinlade, by leading his campaign.
On his own part, Governor Okorocha has been campaigning for his erstwhile Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu, who is contesting for the governorship of Imo State on the platform of Action Alliance.
