The Olota-in
Council, Otta, Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun State, has raised the
alarm over proposed installation of Non-Aworis as Obas in Aworiland, Ogun
State.

The
spokesman of the council and Seriki of Otta, High Chief Olanrewaju Bashorun,
raised the alarm on Wednesday, when he addressed a press conference alongside
other members of the council and some Baales at Iwe Iroyin House, Abeokuta.
Chief
Bashorun said credible sources close to the council confirmed that certain
elements are bent on foisting some people without traceable histories within
Aworiland as Obas and Baales in some Awori towns.
According to
him, the affected Awori towns are; Sango-Otta, Atan-Otta, Ijoko-Otta, Abule
Lemomu, Oke-Ore and Adekoyeni, while the purported Obas to be installed are;
Sakiru Ijaduade, Tajudeen Sodiya, Abiodun Sowunmi, Olatunji Oluyomi and Gbohun
Adebayo.
Chief
Bashorun pointed accusing fingers at some prominent traditional rulers in
Egbaland, as those who are behind the illegal installation which is scheduled
to take place before the end of the month.
He emphasized
that the Olota of Otta is the prescribed traditional authority over all lands,
towns and villages with the suffix, Otta, including Sango-Otta, Atan-Otta and
all the others, as it will amount to a denigration of that sacred institution
without recourse to the traditional ruler before any Oba is installed in
Aworiland.
High Chief
Bashorun therefore called on Governor Ibikunle Amosun to speedily convene a Security
Council meeting to nip in the bud, the activities of those he described as
merchants of discord in the communities and prevent such illegal installations
from taking place.
He warned
that any attempt to conduct the illegal installation would be resisted with
every legitimate means at their disposal.
