State of emergency imminent in education sector - Abiodun

Governor Dapo Abiodun
Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has disclosed that a state of emergency may be declared in the education sector in the state.

He made this known to newsmen on Thursday, at his Oke-Mosan office in Abeokuta.

The governor lamented the decline in performance of students despite the large number of schools across the state, and promised that his administration will take a holistic look at the education sector with a view to repositioning it.

He also reiterated the commitment of his administration to rural development, saying that the total neglect suffered by the rural areas, which he saw during his campaign calls for serious concern.

Governor Abiodun, who had earlier arrived the governor's office at about 9.30am to formally resume duty, met with all the Permanent Secretaries with a view to having an assessment of the current situation in the various ministries and agencies, as well as the state at large.

He was conducted round the Ministries of Finance, Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, and Civil Service Commission.

The governor also had crucial meeting with all the heads of security agencies in the state to assess the level of security of lives and property.
