Ogun LG retirees commend Gov Abiodun, plead for payment of outstanding gratuity

Gov. Dapo Abiodun
Ogun State Governor, Prince (Dr. ) Dapo Abiodun MFR, has been commended for the pace
at which he is gradually changing the face of the state with the rehabilitation of roads,
reconstruction and renovation of school buildings and employment generation across the state.

This commendation was made by the Body of Retired Heads of Local Government
Administration (BORHOLGAS) at the end of the year meeting held recently at the
conference room of Precious Pharmacy Plaza, Omida, Abeokuta.

According to a statement by the Social/Publicity Secretary of the body, Otunba ‘Kayode
Ekundayo (JP), the governor was eulogized for resolving, immediately after assuming
office, to embark on people oriented projects and taking the bull by the horn in
reconstructing and rehabilitating some roads in major towns all over the state which were
hitherto affected by pot-holes, thus making them impassable for motorists.

The body equally noted the frantic efforts being made by the Abiodun-led administration in
the area of infrastructure improvement with the rehabilitation,
reconstruction and re-roofing of buildings in various schools across the state.

While not unmindful of the general economic situation, the body passionately appealed
to the governor to consider the consolidation of the monthly pension and payment of
gratuity to the Local Government Pensioners which has been in arrears of eight years.

Otunba Ekundayo stated that the Local Government Pensioners were last paid their gratuity in August 2011.

"We are therefore appealing to Governor Abiodun to PLEASE SAVE OUR SOULS. Most of
our members are ageing, ailing, and dying since they have no means to buy drugs, attend
to their medical needs and challenges and eat nutritious food", Ekundayo said.

In his remark at the meeting, the Body Chairman, Dr. Akintunde Shogbanmu, was optimistic
that Governor Dapo Abiodun, being a magnanimous, dynamic and visionary leader, will be kind
and passionate to the plight of the Local Government Pensioners and be sensitive to the
payments of their gratuity as the Governor knows their values and contributions as senior
citizens to the development of the state in their hey-days of serving the government in full
capacity while in active service.

While wishing the good people of Ogun State happy, prosperous and crime-free yuletide
season with the approach of Christmas and New Year festivals, the statement further enjoined
the people of the state to rally round the government of Prince Dapo Abiodun, in order to move
the state forward, as the development of the State is the collective responsibility of all.

Great Achiever Magazine reports that BORHOLGAS consists of retired Technocrats and Career Administrators from the Local Government Service of Ogun State.
