Ijebu North-East Council Chairman counsels residents on hygienic practice over coronavirus

The Transition Committee Chairman, Ijebu North-East Local Government, Atan, Hon.(Tpl) Odunola Olusegun Christopher, has urged the indigenes and residents of the local government  to be more proactive during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world.

He stated this at the inauguration ceremony of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Committee on Coronavirus, held on Friday, at the conference room of the local government secretariat.

Hon. Odunola advised the people to maintain a zero tolerance towards unhygienic practices in order to avert further spread of COVID-19 pandemic amongst the populace.

He emphasised that, it is no more rumour, and neither hearsay that coronavirus is totally a deadly disease in nature, and therefore, all necessary and urgent attention must be geared towards putting a halt to the infectious disease.

The Secretary to the Local Government, Hon Obafemi Rennaiye, while speaking at the event, said, coronavirus is real and everybody must be up to the task because it is important for everyone to take all precautionary  measures as laid down  by the Ministry of Health against the disease.

Mrs. Elizabeth Mosudi, the Disease Surveillance Notification Officer  (DSNO), hinted that preparation is at advanced stage to create another isolation centre in Nigerian Army Barrack, Ilese, in conjunction with the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, aside the two centres in Ogbogbo Baptist Grammar School, Ogbogbo and Raluwen High School, Atan.

Thereafter, the Council Chairman flagged off the hand washing exercise, which marked the beginning of the assignment of Emergency Preparedness and Response Committee on Coronavirus in the Local Government Area.
