Alhaji Tele Ogunjobi distributes relief materials to Ijebu-North LG residents over coronavirus lockdown

Alhaji Tele Ogunjobi 

Alhaji Tele Ogunjobi, a philanthropist from Ago-Iwoye, in Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State, on Thursday, began the distribution of relief materials to the less privileged residents of the Council Area, to cushion the effect of the lockdown imposed on Ogun State, in order to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Ogunjobi, while speaking with Great Achiever Magazine, said his action was informed by the need to bring succour to the masses, who may not have the wherewithal to cope with the 14-day stay at home directive of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said, having realised that government alone cannot do everything, it behoves on well meaning Nigerians to come out at this critical period to support the needy.

Ogunjobi, who is a Chartered Accountant, explained that his gesture was devoid of ethnic, religious and political coloration.

He added that there are many Nigerians who could hardly make ends meet prior to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, and to now be forced to stay at home without provision for their upkeep, will be too burdensome for them.

Ogunjobi urged other prominent people in the society to also contribute their quota towards mitigating the biting effect of the lockdown.

The Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, who described Tele Ogunjobi as an Illustrious Son of Ago-Iwoye, commended him for his wonderful gesture, which he said, will serve as inspiration to the young ones.

Oba Adenugba called on other notable indigenes of Ago-Iwoye to emulate Alhaji Ogunjobi over his good deed.

Also reacting to the gesture of Alhaji Tele Ogunjobi, the Obaruwa of Isamuro quarter in Ago-Iwoye, Otunba N. A Oduntan, commended the donor for putting smiles on the faces of the people at this trying times.

Otunba Oduntan charged other indigenes of Ago-Iwoye, who are equally blessed, to emulate the selfless attitude of Alhaji Ogunjobi, by using their God given wealth to emancipate the less privileged in the society.

He prayed for God to replenish the purse of Alhaji Ogunjobi, to enable him continue to do more.

Pa Sunday Lamfa, who is one of the beneficiaries of the relief materials, commended Alhaji Ogunjobi, for coming up with the gesture at this time when all hope seemed to have been lost.

Pa Lamfa prayed for God's protection on Ogunjobi, whom he described as a shining star in Ago-Iwoye.

In his own reaction, the Chairman of Ago-Iwoye Central Development Council, Mr. Oluwatosin Daniel, on behalf of the people of Ago-Iwoye, thanked Alhaji Ogunjobi, who he said, decided on his own to extend the gesture of distributing relief materials to the people Ago-Iwoye, who may be adversely affected by the stay at home directive, in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr. Daniel appealed to all well meaning indigenes of Ago-Iwoye to take after Ogunjobi's gesture.

A former Chairman of Ago-Iwoye Central Development Council, Prince Adegboyega Banjoko (aka Ikemba), described what Tele Ogunjobi did as a worthy gesture, especially at this lockdown period.

He said the relief materials distributed is a big contribution towards alleviating the sufferings of the people at this moment.

Prince Banjoko said the efforts of Alhaji Tele Ogunjobi will go a long way to assist the aged particularly, as the exercise cuts across Ago-Iwoye, Oru, Awa, Ilaporu and Mamu, all in Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Great Achiever Magazine reports that items distributed at various centres include foodstuff and various sums of cash.

The distribution of the relief materials continues on Friday.
