Gov Dapo Abiodun
The residents of Ago-Iwoye, in Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State, have commended the initiative of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in distributing relief materials to the poor and vulnerable people across the state, to cushion the effect of the lockdown.
Some residents of Ago-Iwoye, who spoke to Great Achiever Magazine, during the ongoing distribution of relief materials in the town, expressed satisfaction at the methodical process put in place to ensure that the relief materials got to the targeted people.
The residents also applauded the Chairman of Ijebu North local government, Hon Yekeen Jayeola, for transparency of the distribution exercise.
In his words, Mr Abiodun Adeboye Kazeem (aka Bifakale), thanked Governor Abiodun for the food items distributed in Ago-Iwoye.
He called on the governor to increase the quantity of the food items, as many poor people did not benefit from the first round of distribution.
Mr. Kazeem also pleaded with Governor Abiodun to make provision for the youths in the next round of distribution, because they were also affected by the lockdown.
Acommunity leader in Ago-Iwoye, Alhaji Muritala Agbolade Olusola Suberu, expressed gratitude to the governor for remembering the old people at this difficult time.
He however advised the governor to give monthly stipends to the elderly people who have attained the age of 70 years and above.
Another resident, Mr. Olusegun Babarinde, a carpenter, disagreed with the government over its insistence that only the elderly people are qualified to benefit from the relief materials.
Mr. Babarinde claimed that there are several artisans like himself, who were denied their means of livelihood, on account of the stay at home order.
He therefore urged the governor to include the artisans in the list of beneficiaries of the relief materials to cushion the biting effect of the lockdown.
