Ebumawe brokers peace between feuding elders in Ijebu PCRC

Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba

The Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, on Friday, brokered peace between two prominent elders of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Ijebuland.

Great Achiever Magazine reports that the two prominent elders, Elder B.O Jaiyesinmi (Deputy State Chairman) and Alhaji Fatai Alawiye (State Patron), have not been enjoying cordial  relationship among themselves over the affairs of PCRC.

A peace meeting, facilitated and hosted by Oba Adenugba, who is also the Royal Patron of PCRC in Ijebuland, took place at the Ebumawe's palace, where the contending issues among the two elders were discussed and amicably resolved.

The Area Command Chairman of PCRC, Otunba Fatai Agbolade, led other stakeholders to the peace meeting which was well attended.

Oba Adenugba, while speaking at the peace meeting, reiterated the need for mutual understanding and peace between the two elders.

He reminded them that the two of them used to be very close friends, and queried why the sudden acrimony.

The monarch said the two elders are fighting the same course but from different perspectives. He therefore emphasized the need for unity and advised against the use of divide and rule tactics being employed by some people within the PCRC structure against the Ijebus.

Oba Adenugba counseled that the Ijebus must be united, as he suggested that status quo be maintained, with emphasis on the reinstatement of the two divisions (Igbeba and Obalende), as well as the Area Command Executive under the leadership of Otunba Fatai Agbolade.

The Royal Father further advised that a meeting be called where grey areas will be spelt out, while all members should comply with the arrangement.

In addition, Oba Adenugba  advised the two elders to have a closed door meeting, enjoining all the supporters of the elders to sheath their swords and be mindful of their postings on the PCRC platform.

Great Achiever Magazine reports that Ebumawe concluded his remarks by soliciting that the two elders embrace themselves as a sign of unity and end of discord.

This was done as Elder B.O Jaiyesinmi stood up and embraced Alhaji Alawiye to the admiration of members present.

Thereafter, nose masks were jointly presented by the two elders to Oba Adenugba, after which  group photographs were taken.
