Ogun: Lockdown to continue for 7 days - Gov Abiodun

Gov Dapo Abiodun

Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has extended the lockdown in the state by another 7 days.

The governor disclosed this on Friday while speaking with newsmen in his office.

Abiodun said: "Now, to preserve the lives of our people, we are persuaded to extend the current modified lockdown, which has been slightly eased, for another one week alongside the current guidelines.

"This will be reviewed, as usual, on a weekly basis".

Great Achiever Magazine reports that the governor explained that windows of relaxation will continue to be available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 7.00am to 5.00pm on each day of the window of relaxation, while the daily curfew and ban on non-essential inter state travel as directed by the President still stand.

He reminded residents of the state that wearing of face mask is mandatory, saying that government has provided, and continues to provide face masks to public servants, groups and associations.

Governor Abiodun however said
government alone cannot provide face masks to all, and therefore urged individuals that have a need to go out to procure and use face masks in public, as the enforcement will continue to be strengthened with full weight of law meted out to violators.

He further disclosed that all other physical distancing measures as announced last week remain in force.
