Alhaji Isola, a former Secretary to Ogun State Government, said it is unfortunate that the moral values have continuously gone awry, adding that many of the ills prevalent in the country today are alien and imported.
Alhaji Isola said: "I remember those days when virginity was sacred and protected before marriage. 'Ibale' was even the climax of marriage ceremonies. Homosexuality was sacrilegious. Indecent dressing was sinful. Girls abhor sex without relationship. Wives were faithful. Womanhood was respected, protected and adored".
The former Minister disclosed that the present decadence in the society emanated from negative copying of the Western culture and civilisation.
He stated that many religious leaders who should be championing morals in the society are also falling by the way side, asking, "why can't we go back to our ways"?
"We can be civilised without abandoning our culture. Chinese, Indians, Arabs and others embrace Western civilisation without losing their cultural identities".
He prayed that God should help Nigeria in surmounting this serious challenge.
