Group tells Gov. Abiodun to compensate Ifelodun Constituency over impeachment of Deputy Speaker

Gov Dapo Abiodun

Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has been urged to compensate Ifelodun Constituency in Ijebu North Local Government Area of the State, with the appointment of Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistant over the impeachment of the former Deputy Speaker, Hon. Dare Kadiri.

Great Achiever Magazine reports that the call was made by Dapo Abiodun Youth Movement, Ijebu North Local Government Chapter.

According to a press release signed by the group's Coordinator, Alhaji Sesan Araba, the call became necessary in view of the fact that the office of the Deputy Speaker is the number four in the state hierarchy, and it was in consideration of this office that Ifelodun Constituency was denied commissionership slot and other offices despite the robust performance of the constituency during the last election.

The release added that denying the above request will look as if there is a deliberate calculation to heap on the constituency the offence committed by an individual.

Meanwhile, the group stated that the news of impeachment of the former Deputy Speaker came as a rude shock.

It said: "We had expected that given the contribution of Otunba Dare Kadiri to the party during its turbulent time, he would have been treated as a first offender, but unfortunately this was not put into consideration.

"While we are not happy with this development, there is nothing we can do about it since it is an internal issue, but we would wish to draw the attention of the leadership of our party to the fact that the removal of the office of the Deputy Speaker from Ijebu North Local government, most especially from Ifelodun Constituency has undermined the sharing formula or zoning system within the party and the government.

"It is on this basis that we want to implore His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to please consider the need for at least two Special Advisers with a Senior Special Assistant for appointment in Ifelodun constituency or a substantive Commissioner".
