Impeachment: Ogun Assembly sets up committee to investigate Deputy Speaker over allegation of misconduct

Hon. Dare Kadiri

The Ogun State House of Assembly on Tuesday set up a committee to investigate the allegation of misconduct against the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Dare Kadiri, consequent upon notice of impeachment served on him.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, named members of the committee as follows:

1. Hon. Yusuf Abiodun (Chairman)

2. Hon. Oladunjoye Abdul (Member)

3. Hon. Lateefat Ajayi (Member)

4. Hon. Adeyemi Ademuyiwa (Member)

5. Hon. Modupe Mujota (Member)

6. Mr. Tope Hokon (Secretary)

The Speaker gave the committee 72 hours to submit its report.

Great Achiever Magazine gathered that the grounds on which members of the Assembly were calling for the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker centered on accusation of total disrespect to the ethics of the Assembly which is tantamount to gross misconduct committed through:

- Insubordination to the office of the Speaker through unauthorised self approval of expenditure

- Involvement of an external body in the affairs of the House without exploring all internal mechanisms for amicable resolution of issues.

- Abuse of office, threat to lives and properties, conduct likely to cause breach of peace and attempted murder committed in his constituency as petitioned by Chief Adebiyi Odugbesan from his constituency.
