The winner of Ogun State Best Senior Secondary School Teacher Award in 2020, Kayode Adewale, has again bagged the Ogun State Youth Outstanding Award on Education for 2021.
Great Achiever Magazine reports that Adewale was presented with the Award on Tuesday, 28th December, 2021, at a ceremony that took place in Abeokuta.
Kayode Adewale is a Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE), MIE Expert, Go-Ga Master Trainer, Innovative Teachers Fellow (ITF) of EdTech Centre of Excellence, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, An Ambassador of Edutams.net
He is a Mathematics teacher at Odu'a Comprehensive High School (Senior), Imoru Ijebu. He was born in Ago-Iwoye to the family of Chief. and Mrs. Adewale Adesegun on Friday 8th June 1984.
He had his academic career in Mathematics and Economics at NCE and Degree levels from Tai Solarin College of Education and Tai Solarin University of Education respectively. His pedagogical interest soars high to post-graduate levels at the same University. His major objective as a teacher is to contribute his quota to the educational transformation in Nigeria by using 21st-century skills and he is at the forefront of this transformation.
Professionally, he is a member of several associations. These include the Computer Teachers Association of Nigeria (CTAN), Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (ICEN), Association of Behavioural Research Analysts and Psychometricians (ABREAP), Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN), and a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, Microsoft Innovative Educator Master Trainer, Innovative Teachers Fellow(ITF) of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun and UK-NIGERIA HUB.
He also held various positions of responsibilities with landmark achievements and reputations for credible leadership as a teacher. Among such include: Assistant Secretary, Academic Staff Union of Secondary School (ASUSS), Odogbolu, Assistant Secretary, Odogbolu Sports Masters Association, Public Relation Officer, Ijebu Division Sports Council, Assistant Secretary, Science Teachers Association, Ijebu Division, Coordinator of Secondary schools of the MathematicalAssociation of Nigeria, Ijebu Division, Ogun State ICT Officer of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria.
He got commendation letters as School Registrar, Sports Master of Odu'a Comprehensive School (Senior). Commendation letters were also received from Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology as the best Senior Secondary School Teacher and from the office of the Special Adviser to the State governor on Primary and Secondary Education as one of the members of Ogun State Virtual Learning teachers (Ogundigiclass). He also received an appreciation letter from the Academic Staff Union of Secondary School, Odogbolu as a member that represented the local government for Ogundigiclass program on OGTV and another commendation letter by the same union as a virtual learning teacher that engages and owns a YouTube channel to reach out to students. A commendation letter was also received from the State Chairman of ASUSS as a member that represented the union in the production of video content to engage students at OGTV during the Covid-19 lockdown and for the YouTube channel which he created. An appreciation letter was also received from Co-Creation Hub and GoLabz Goes Africa (Go-Ga), Lagos, Nigeria for facilitating a program, creation of Inquiry Learning Space (ILS) and for conducting a pilot program to support other teachers in the Go-Ga community. He again received a commendation letter from Teaching Service Commission, Odogbolu Zonal Office for championing the technologically-driven education delivery in the local government. The same gesture was replicated by the State Teaching Service Commission for emerging as the best teacher in senior public schools to represent the State in the presidential award for best public secondary School teacher.
In his attempt at using 21st Century skills to engage students, he has a YouTube channel
(Adewalekayodeonlineclass) with over 400 subscribers, more than 18,000 views, and over 100 videos on Mathematics and Teachers development programs (You can go to Youtube to subscribe to his channel now) likewise, his Facebook page on the teaching of Mathematics and virtual instructional engagement for teachers' development programs. As a Go-Ga Master Trainer, he has over 20 Inquiry Learning Spaces (ILS). Among others, he is versatile in the use of Microsoft Team and its classroom usage. He is a research designer, program evaluator and trained research methodologist.
He has a debut of well-researched paper in a learned journal with over 6000 readers on
Researchgate and publications. He has also attended several conferences which have helped to boost his understanding and widen his horizon.
He has Facilitated the following programmes as a teacher:
I. Workshop on Technology, students engagement and evaluation at University of Ibadan,
November 10, 2020, @ Association of Behavioral Research Analysts and Psychometricians.
II. Conference of Computer Teacher Association of Nigeria(CTAN) on Emerging Edutech on 4th November 2020, Ijebu ode.
III. 2day workshop on Teacher Professional Development Training Workshop on up-to-date skill
for effective use of inquiry learning space at Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun in
Conjunction with Edutech center of excellence(cchub) Ogun State, Nigeria. January 2020.
IV. Training on Microsoft academy and tools to evaluate students at 3rd annual forum –
conference and workshop of association of behavioural research analysts and psychometricians
(ab-reap) as facilitator and participant on research skills for post-covid-19 survival at the
multi-purpose hall, university of Ilorin, Ilorin.V. Girl child Education and how important it is to the society and importance of Mathematics Education to society with Dr. Adefunke Ekine (TASUED) and Dr. Deborah Tobih (TASUED). 25th March 2021.
