A Non Governmental Organization, known as Ago-Iwoye Great Thinkers Trust Foundation, has been unveiled in the ancient town of Ago-Iwoye.
The official flag off ceremony of the Foundation took place on Wednesday, 9th February, 2022, at WosAm Arena, Ago-Iwoye.
Great Achiever Magazine reports that the Foundation is an offshoot of a WhatsApp platform known as Ago-Iwoye City Development Great Thinkers, which was created in 2016, and has Ago-Iwoye sons and daughters both at home and in diaspora as participants.
In his opening remarks, Maj. Gen. Sansadeen Adebanjo Awosanya (rtd.), who is the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Foundation, said he was delighted to formally unveil the duly registered Non Governmental Organisation to the generality of sons and daughters of Ago-Iwoye in particular, and to the general public, adding that it was a dream that came into reality.
Awosanya disclosed that the aim of the Foundation is to serve the interest of Ago-Iwoye people and contribute in no small measure to the development of the town.
The BOT Chairman said three Committees, namely; Health Committee, Agriculture Committee and Education/Skill Acquisition & Youth Empowerment Committee have been established in order to facilitate the execution of the various projects and programmes of the Foundation.
According to Gen. Awosanya, the Foundation is planning to acquire about 100 acres of land for the Agriculture business, while some acres of land have been purchased for the take off of the ultramodern hospital that will meet the health needs of the Ago-Iwoye people at affordable costs.
He therefore disclosed that the Foundation is targeting to raise N1bn for the execution of the lofty projects, while N40m had already been raised among the BOT members, and appealed to all sons and daughters of Ago-Iwoye to identify with the Foundation by donating generously to its worthy cause.
Awosanya read out the names of other members of the BOT which include; Prince (Dr) Feyisayo Soyewo, Aare Safiriyu Adebanjo Kazeem, Olori Modupe Shotobi, Dr Adebambo Osibamiro, Prince (Engr) Femi Olukoya, Oluomo Femi Bakre, Dr Bayo Yusuf, Akogun Tola Adeniyi, Engr Wole Banjo and Committee members, who he affirmed are accomplished professionals, business entrepreneurs and careerists.
Delivering his speech at the occasion, the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, congratulated all members of the Foundation for the brilliant idea, saying that Ago-Iwoye will benefit immensely from the various projects and programmes lined up for implementation.
Oba Adenugba said he was extremely happy that the idea came to fruition during his reign, urging all well meaning indigenes of Ago-Iwoye to support the Foundation in order to realize its dreams.
The Monarch advised the people of Ago-Iwoye to always work in unison and emulate Ago-Iwoye Great Thinkers Trust Foundation, which has opened a new chapter of communal development.
He assured the Foundation of his unflinching support, adding that his doors are widely open anytime his assistance is needed.
Oba Adenugba, while urging the Foundation to consider holding Annual General Meeting in Ago-Iwoye, also advised the Foundation to accommodate more indigenes of the town who share in its vision and are ready to contribute meaningfully towards the realization of its objectives.
Also speaking at the occasion, Oluomo Femi Bakre, a member of the Board of Trustees, said the Foundation is ready to undertake various interventions in the areas of Health, Agriculture and Education for the development of Ago-Iwoye and its people.
He therefore appealed for the support and cooperation of Ago-Iwoye indigenes in realizing the great dreams of the Foundation.
Earlier, the secretariat of the Foundation, located at Imere road, Ago-Iwoye, was commissioned by the BOT Chairman, Maj. Gen. S.A Awosanya.
Presentations were made by representatives of the Committee Chairmen, as most members of the Committees were absent.
Members of the BOT that graced the occasion were, Aare Safiriyu Kazeem, Oluomo Femi Bakre, Olori Modupe Shotobi and Engr. Femi Olukoya.
Other dignitaries at the occasion included, Prince Yinka Sipe, Sola Olufeisan, Doyin Obasan, Femi Odugbose, Akin Ogungbe, Princess Adenike Tolofari, Daniel Oluwatosin, Yemi Sonaike, Deji Abdul, Akin Onalaja, Ade Alebiosu and wife, Yeye Funke Bakre, Lekan Rufai, Hakeem Ademosu, Ayo Awobona, Anu Awojobi, Ago-Iwoye Youths' representatives.
