Police set to launch campaign against cultism, other vices in Ago-Iwoye

The Nigeria Police Force, in its determination to eradicate cultism and other vices among Nigerian youths and students, is set to launch the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV).


Great Achiever Magazine reports that the launch of POCACOV and Summit will take place on Thursday, 3rd March, 2022, at WosAm Arena, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.


According to the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu, POCACOV is an initiative of the Nigeria Police Force, aimed at curbing the act of cultism and other vices among youths and students across the country.


Amaraizu said the event will serve as an avenue for the police to dialogue with relevant stakeholders on the way forward in having a better policing and reduce the rate of cultism among the youths in Ogun State and Nigeria at large.


Some of the important dignitaries expected at the event include; Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who is the Special Guest of Honour, while former Nigeria's President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, will be the Chief Guest of Honour/Keynote Speaker.


Others are; HRM Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, who will be the Royal Father of the Day, while HRH Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, is the Chief Host.


Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, is the Host, as Otunba Alex Onabanjo will be the Chairman, and Otunba Babatunde Onakoya is the Guest of Honour.


Among the Guest Speakers expected at the occasion are; Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos and DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command.


The target audience expected at the event are; Representatives of Students of Secondary Schools in Ijebuland, Representatives of Students of Tertiary Institutions of Learning in Ijebuland, Representatives of Youth Organisations in Ijebuland, Representatives of Security Agencies in Ijebuland, Representatives of Royal Institutions in Ijebuland, Representatives of Corporate Bodies in Ijebuland, Representatives of Non-governmental organisations in Ijebuland and Representatives of National Youth Service Corps Members in Ijebuland.
