Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has emerged as PDP presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential election.
In a keenly contested primary election on Saturday, 28th May, 2022, Atiku scored 371 votes to defeat his closest rival, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who scored 237 votes.
The results of other aspirants who participated in the election are; Dr. Bukola Saraki - 70 votes, Gov Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State - 38 votes, Gov Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State - 20 votes, Former Senate President, Pius Anyim - 14 votes, Sam Ohuabuwa - 1 vote, Tari Oliver - 1 vote.
Great Achiever Magazine reports that before the commencement of voting, Gov Aminu Tambuwal had announced his withdrawal from the contest to support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar thanked the leadership of PDP as well as PDP governors for making the primary election a success.
He assured Nigerians of better days ahead if he wins in the 2023 general election.
