How Tinubu clinched APC presidential ticket with 1,271 votes

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been elected as the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general elections.


 Great Achiever Magazine reports that Tinubu emerged victorious, as he defeated 12 other aspirants at the APC presidential primary election held at Eagle Square, Abuja, on Tuesday, 7th June, 2022.


Earlier on, some of the presidential aspirants, while addressing the delegates, stepped down for Asiwaju Tinubu and directed their supporters to vote for him.


The aspirants who stepped down included; Chief Godswill Akpabio, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Chief Kayode Fayemi, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar, Senator Ajayi Borrofice, Hon. Dimeji Bankole and Barrister Uju Kennedy.


On the other hand, Nicholas Felix was the only aspirant who stepped down for Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.


According to the results declared on Wednesday, 8th June, 2022, the aspirants fared as follows: Asiwaju Tinubu - 1271 votes , Hon Rotimi Amaechi - 316 votes, Prof Yemi Osinbajo - 235 votes, Senator Ahmad Lawan - 152 votes, Gov Yahaya Bello - 47 votes, Gov Dave Umahi - 38 votes, Gov Ben Ayade - 37 votes, Senator Ahmed Yerima - 4 votes, Chief Christopher Onu - 1 vote, Pastor Tunde Bakare - 0, Senator Rochas Okorocha - 0, Jack Rich - 0, Chief Ikeobasi Mokelu - 0.
