Methodist Church Ijebu Diocese Men's Fellowship celebrates Father's Day in grand style

Sola Olufeisan, Diocesan President

The Men's fellowship, Ijebu Diocese of The Methodist Church Nigeria, under the leadership of Olotu Sola Olufeisan (MOW), on Sunday, 19th June, 2022, celebrated Father's Day in a special way.

The week long activities which commenced on Monday 13th June, 2022, with Eucharistic Service at all local churches throughout Ijebu land, climaxed with a general thanksgiving service at Methodist Cathedral, Ago-Iwoye, on Sunday 19th June.

In his welcome address the Diocesan President Olotu Sola Olufeisan, charged men to take their rightful position by leading their family in worshipping the Lord as Abraham taught Isaac.

Olufeisan said some men failed to control their families by allowing their children and wives to attend other churches, whereas Joshua asserted that he and his family will serve the Lord.

He therefore advised men to be responsible fathers.

Rev Sunday Osinibi, while delivering the sermon, titled, "Men prepare to meet your Lord", on behalf of the Bishop of Ijebu, Rt Rev Solomon Abayomi Adegbite, charged all men in the Diocese to prepare for second coming of Christ. He said they must be like five wise virgins who carried extra oil with them because they did not know when the bridegroom will come.

Part of the activities that took place during the week long event included; Bible study & quiz, health talk, visitation to aged members and novelty football match between Laity and the Clergy.

Prizes were given to winners of Bible Quiz Competition and Novelty football match.

During the general thanksgiving service, three notable members of the Diocese were conferred with Honorary Awards. They were: Sir Col Bola Ogunsanwo, KJW, who received Ambassador of Faith Award; Chief Taye Solarin Sogbesan, OOW, who received Distinguished Service Award, while Posthumous Award was conferred on Late Dr Yemi Sanya, who until his death was Baba Ijo of Idode Methodist Church.

Some of the Special guests at the occasion were: Col (Dr) Ademola Onalaja, Lay President of Ijebu Diocese, who was the Chairman; Hon Olubunmi Gbadamosi, SLG, Mushin Local Government; Olori Modupe Shotobi, Olori Oba Ayangburen of Ikorodu, who was Mother of the Day; Hon Mobolaji Olumide Kuye; Hon Olugbenga Olufeisan; Sir Prof Taiwo Edun and Mrs Lateefat Jaiyeola.
