Court strikes out SSS application for continuous detention of Emefiele

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama has struck out an application filed by the State Security Service to hold on to suspended CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, for the next 14 days, after he was granted bail in Lagos.

Justice Hamza Muazu struck out the exparte motion on Thursday because it was an abuse of the court process, and the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit.

The application, which they said was due to additional charges, followed the re-arrest of Emefiele from the premises of the Federal High Court in Lagos by the security agency after he was remanded in the custody of the Correctional Centre, pending the perfection of his bail, which was granted by Justice Nicholas Oweibo.
