Nigeria’s House of Representatives has denied reports by some newspapers and media stations suggesting that it rejected the National Honours conferred on the speaker and deputy speaker by President Bola Tinubu.
Majority leader of the House, Julius Ihonvbere, who made this clarification at plenary on Thursday, explained that lawmakers only appealed to the federal government to address what they termed “inappropriate discrimination” against the green chamber.
The speaker, in his contribution, attributed the report to an amendment to the motion proposed by a lawmaker at plenary but was immediately withdrawn.
