Wizkid, Burna Boy win Grammy Awards

Nigerian superstar singer, Wizkid has won his first ever Grammy award.


Wizkid won ‘Best Music Video’ for his role on ‘Brown Skin Girl’ at the 63rd Grammy Award on March 14, 2021.


He won the award alongside Beyonce, who owns the song and featured artists, Saint Jhn and Blue Ivy. The award will also go to Jenn Nkiru who directed the video.


The song was made for Beyonce’s album, Lion King: The Gift which featured other Nigerian artists. In October 2019, Pulse Nigeria reported that preparations were being made for the video.


As of the time of this win, the video has over 31 million views on YouTube.


Meanwhile, another Nigerian superstar musician, Burna Boy has also won his first ever Grammy award.


The Afrobeat superstar added a Grammy to his growing list of accomplishments as he won the Best Global Music Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards.


His album, Twice as Tall won the award over records by Antibalas (FU Chronicles), Bebel Gilberto (Agora), Anoushka Shankar (Love Letters), and Tinariwen (Amadjar). The win marks Burna Boy’s first Grammy Award after being nominated last year.
